Trainerize pricing in 2026 starts free for 2 clients and scales to roughly $99/mo for 100 clients on the Pro plan, but the real all-in cost is higher once you add Advanced Nutrition ($20-45/mo), a branded app ($169 one-time plus $99/yr Apple developer fee), and payment processing fees. Best value sits at 15-50 clients on Pro 30 or Pro 100. Below 10 clients, you are overpaying.

Trainerize's official pricing page lists the headline numbers but skips the part that actually matters: what does it cost per client once you switch on the features most coaches end up using? The published plans hide three or four add-on line items that quietly add 20-40% to the monthly bill.

This is a teardown, not a sales sheet. We pulled the numbers from Trainerize's own pricing page, the help center, the App Store developer fee schedule, and recurring complaints from coaches on r/personaltrainer, Trustpilot, and Capterra. Here is what you actually pay at 5, 15, 30, and 100 clients, and the roster size where the math finally starts working.

Trainerize publishes six paid tiers plus a free starter. Here is what each one actually includes and where the line items sit.

Free (2 clients)

Two client slots, full workout builder, basic messaging, no Trainerize Pay, no nutrition coaching. This is a feature trial, not a business plan. You cannot run a coaching business on it.

Grow (2 clients, around $5/mo)

Adds Trainerize Pay so you can actually charge clients. Still capped at 2 clients. Useful for a side hustle with one or two paid clients you do not want to invoice manually.

Pro 5 ($19/mo, 5 clients)

The starter business plan. All core features, payments, custom branding inside the standard Trainerize app, video coaching. No Advanced Nutrition by default. The 5-client cap is the constraint most coaches hit within 2-3 months.

Pro 15 ($49/mo, 15 clients)

The "I am committed to this" tier. Most full-time independent coaches live here for their first year. Same features as Pro 5, just more room.

Pro 30 ($79/mo, 30 clients)

Where the cost-per-client math gets attractive. $2.63/mo per client at full capacity. If you sell coaching at $99-199/mo, your software cost is under 3% of revenue.

Pro 100 ($99/mo, 100 clients)

Only $20 more than Pro 30 for 70 more client slots. If you have any chance of growing past 30, skip Pro 30 and go straight here. Trainerize is essentially giving away the extra capacity to keep you on the ladder.

Pro 200 ($149/mo, 200 clients) and Studio ($349/mo, unlimited)

Pro 200 is for established solo coaches at scale. Studio is for gyms and multi-trainer operations and bundles in admin user roles, sub-trainer accounts, and gym integrations. Most independent coaches never need Studio.

The add-ons Trainerize doesn't put on the pricing page

This is the part the official page underplays. Three add-ons matter.

Advanced Nutrition Coaching ($20-45/mo)

The macro tracking, meal plan builder, and food database integration are not in the base Pro plan. Trainerize sells this as an add-on, priced per coach (not per client) and varying by region. Coaches on r/personaltrainer report paying $20-29/mo at the low end and up to $45/mo with the meal plan builder enabled. If you sell "training plus nutrition" packages, this is not optional.

Custom branded app ($169 one-time, plus $99/yr Apple)

Trainerize's "Custom Branded App" service builds you a white-label iOS and Android app under your business name in the App Store. The setup fee is around $169 one-time, and you pay Apple's $99/yr developer program fee directly to Apple to keep the app live. Google Play has a $25 one-time fee. So the year-one branded-app cost is roughly $169 + $99 + $25 = $293, then $99/yr ongoing.

You do not need the branded app to use Trainerize. Clients can use the generic Trainerize app with your name and logo inside it. But if you want your icon on their home screen, this is the price.

Payment processing (around 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction)

Trainerize Pay runs on Stripe under the hood. Standard Stripe rates apply: 2.9% + $0.30 per US card transaction, higher for international cards. On a $150/mo coaching subscription, that is $4.65 per client per month going to Stripe before Trainerize sees a dollar of revenue from you.

This is not a Trainerize fee, but it is real money that comes out of your gross.

Saru says: Pattern from public reviews: about 40% of negative Trainerize reviews on Capterra and Trustpilot mention surprise costs around nutrition or the branded app. The complaint is rarely about the price itself, it is about the price not being where users expected to find it. Trainerize’s pricing page is technically accurate but functionally incomplete.

True monthly cost at every roster size

Here is the full cost-per-client math, assuming you have switched on Advanced Nutrition ($25/mo midpoint) and amortized a branded app over 24 months (roughly $12/mo year one, $8/mo ongoing). Processing fees are excluded because they scale with client price, not Trainerize plan.

Two observations. First, cost per client at 5 is roughly 12 times the cost per client at 100. Trainerize is built to reward scale. Second, the jump from 30 to 100 clients only costs you $20 more per month, so once you cross 25 clients, skip Pro 30.

2026 price changes: what's different

Trainerize quietly adjusted pricing in early 2026. Based on archived versions of their pricing page and coach reports on r/personaltrainer, the changes were:

  • Pro 5 held at $19/mo (no change)
  • Pro 15 nudged from $44 to $49/mo (about 11% up)
  • Pro 30 from $69 to $79/mo (about 14% up)
  • Pro 100 from $89 to $99/mo (about 11% up)
  • Studio held at $349/mo
  • Annual billing discount narrowed from "2 months free" to "1.5 months free" on most tiers

Net effect: a mid-tier coach on Pro 30 is paying roughly $120/yr more in 2026 than they were in 2025. Not catastrophic, but worth knowing before you renew annual.

Advanced Nutrition pricing has held steady at $20-29/mo in most regions, though the meal plan builder add-on appears to have shifted from "included with nutrition" to "$10-15/mo extra" in some accounts.

Hidden fees: payment processing, branded app, Apple developer

Three line items most coaches forget when budgeting.

Payment processing. Stripe rates apply, around 2.9% + $0.30 US, 3.9% + $0.30 international. On $5,000/mo in coaching revenue you lose roughly $160/mo to processing. This is not Trainerize specific, but it is unavoidable if you take payment through their platform.

Branded app annual costs. Apple's $99/yr developer program fee is non-negotiable and goes directly to Apple, not Trainerize. Miss the renewal and your app gets pulled from the store. Google Play is a one-time $25.

Annual billing trap. Trainerize offers a discount for paying yearly, but if you upgrade plans mid-year, the credit calculation is prorated in a way that often leaves coaches feeling shortchanged. Several Capterra reviews mention this. If you expect to grow, monthly billing is safer.

Cancellation timing. Trainerize bills in advance. Cancel on day 2 of a billing cycle and you are paid through to day 30 with no refund.

Trainerize vs TrueCoach vs MyPTHub on real-world all-in cost

Same coach, same roster, three platforms. Here is the all-in monthly cost for a coach with 20 clients running training plus nutrition.

TrueCoach is roughly half the price of Trainerize at this roster size, and MyPTHub is cheaper still. The trade-off:

  • Trainerize has the deepest feature set (in-app messaging quality, video coaching, integrations with MyFitnessPal and Fitbit, the most mature workout builder)
  • TrueCoach has the best UX and the cleanest mobile experience but no nutrition macro tracking depth
  • MyPTHub is the budget pick with strong features but a clunkier interface and weaker community

If you sell premium ($150+/mo) coaching where the experience matters, the Trainerize premium is defensible. If you sell budget ($49-99/mo) coaching, the TrueCoach or MyPTHub math is hard to beat.

Faz says: Coaches obsess over the software fee and miss the bigger lever: which platform helps you retain clients longer. If Trainerize keeps a client 2 extra months at $150/mo, that is $300 in revenue versus a $60 difference in software cost. Pick on UX and retention first, price second.

Who Trainerize is overpriced for

Three groups should skip Trainerize entirely.

Coaches with fewer than 10 clients. At Pro 5 ($19 base, $56 all-in), you are paying $11+ per client per month. Almost any alternative beats this. Everfit's free tier handles up to 5 clients with no feature crippling. PT Distinction starts at $10/mo. Even running a Notion + Loom + Stripe stack is cheaper.

Coaches who do not sell nutrition. Half of Trainerize's premium over competitors is the nutrition feature depth. If you only sell training programs, you are paying for capability you do not use. TrueCoach gives you the training side at a lower price.

Coaches running group programs only. Trainerize is built for one-to-one coaching. Group challenges are a bolt-on that does not feel native. If your business is group programs, look at Everfit or a community platform like Circle.

When Trainerize is genuinely worth it

Three profiles where the price stops being the issue.

15-50 clients selling training plus nutrition at $150+/mo. Cost per client lands at $3-6/mo against $150+ in revenue. Software cost is under 4% of revenue. The nutrition feature depth is the best in category. The math is fine.

Coaches who want a fully branded mobile app. Trainerize's white-label app program is more mature than TrueCoach's (which only added a comparable program in 2024). If brand presence on a client's home screen is part of your positioning, the $169 plus $99/yr is small money.

Coaches deeply integrated with MyFitnessPal, Fitbit, Garmin, or Apple Health. Trainerize has the most mature device integrations in the category. If you coach off wearable data, the platform earns its keep.

How to actually save money on Trainerize

Six levers most coaches miss.

  1. Pay annually if you are committed for 12 months. Saves 1.5 months of fees per year (about 12%) on most plans.
  2. Skip Advanced Nutrition if you do not actively sell nutrition coaching. Drops $25/mo.
  3. Archive inactive clients instead of keeping them in active slots. Archived clients do not count against your plan cap.
  4. Downgrade after seasonal peaks. If your client roster swings from 25 in January to 10 in summer, drop from Pro 30 to Pro 15 and back. Trainerize allows mid-cycle downgrades.
  5. Skip the branded app for year one. Run on the standard Trainerize app while you validate the business. Add branding when you cross 30 clients.
  6. Negotiate Studio if you are running a multi-trainer operation. Coaches on r/personaltrainer report Trainerize discounting Studio for verified gym operators willing to commit annual.

Trainerize free trial: what's real, what's a trap

Trainerize offers a 30-day free trial of any paid plan. It is genuinely 30 days, no credit card surprises, and you get full feature access including Trainerize Pay so you can test the actual coaching flow.

The trap: the trial defaults to the Pro 30 plan. If you forget to downgrade or cancel, you get billed $79 on day 31. Set a calendar reminder for day 28.

The other watch-out: Advanced Nutrition is NOT included in the free trial by default. You have to specifically enable it to test it, and it may or may not auto-bill at end of trial depending on which signup flow you used. Check your account settings on day 25.
