Best AI PMP Exam Prep Tools (2026): 5 Compared for the New Exam Outline

For the July 2026 PMP, Brain Sensei puts a voice AI instructor in a 35-hour course from $299, Pocket Prep adds an AI tutor to its question bank from $20.99 a month, and PM Mastery has an AI coach from $99 for 90 days. PMI’s Study Hall starts at $59 a quarter. Prices as listed on 28 October 2026.

PMP prep companies have started selling AI, and many now say they are updated for the new exam. PMI changed the PMP Examination Content Outline in July 2026, and the “best AI PMP prep” pages we read were mostly written by prep companies comparing themselves with their rivals. One even put a competitor’s closure date in its own comparison table.

Three things get lost in that noise. The new outline mentions artificial intelligence once, so AI is not a new exam topic in the way some marketing suggests. Several apps sold as “2026” still describe the old exam. And The PM PrepCast, a PMP course and exam simulator brand, is closing on 4 December 2026. This guide compares five AI PMP prep tools against PMI’s practice products, on what the AI actually does, what each costs on 28 October 2026, and what the pass guarantees really promise.

How we put this together. We have not used these tools ourselves; this is a research-based comparison. Every price, rating and feature below comes from PMI’s website and its official outline, the vendor’s own website, or the app’s US App Store and Google Play listing, read on 28 October 2026, and each source is linked. pmi.org blocked automated reading, so we read it in a normal browser. PMI showed us its exam fee in Indian rupees from our location, so we do not quote it; check the fee on pmi.org. All other prices below were shown in US dollars. Pass rates and guarantees are the vendors’ own claims, and we quote the fine print. None of these companies paid to appear on this page.

Using The PM PrepCast? Read this first

Its homepage says “The PM PrepCast is closing. All product access ends December 4, 2026.” Its closure terms say purchases made on or after 1 September 2026 are final with “no refunds, no money-back guarantee”, that the store closes on 31 October 2026 at 6:00 pm Pacific Time, and that accounts, course progress and simulator history will be permanently deleted after closure. Certificates of completion cannot be issued after the closure date, and PrepCast recommends finishing the course by 30 November 2026. If you used PrepCast for your 35 hours, download your certificate now, because PMI can audit your application. The homepage still carries older text about an “ironclad 30-day money-back guarantee”; the closure terms are the ones that apply to new purchases.

What changed in the PMP exam in July 2026

The Project Management Institute (PMI) writes and runs the PMP exam, so its Examination Content Outline (ECO) is the reference point for every tool here. The current version is titled “July 2026 PMP Certification Exam Update” and its pages are marked “revised 11 August 2026”. Several prep companies give the start date as 9 July 2026.

The PMP exam since July 2026, from the PMI outline: Business Environment up to 26 percent from the 8 percent prep companies quote for 2021, People 33 and Process 41 percent across 26 tasks, still 180 questions in 240 minutes, two new question types, and AI mentioned only once in the introduction

Business Environment is now a quarter of the exam

The outline splits the exam into three domains: People 33%, Process 41% and Business Environment 26%. Prep companies quote the previous 2021 split as 42%, 50% and 8%, so Business Environment more than tripled. The new outline lists 26 tasks in total, 8 under People, 10 under Process and 8 under Business Environment. Business Environment now covers governance, compliance, change control, impediments and issues, risk, continuous improvement, organisational change and changes in the external business environment.

The way of working is mixed. PMI says “Approximately 40% of the items will represent predictive project management approaches, whereas the remaining 60% will be divided between adaptive/agile and hybrid management approaches.” Those approaches appear across all three domains rather than in one section.

Same length, two new question types

The exam is still 180 questions in 240 minutes, with two 10-minute breaks, according to PMI’s PMP certification page. The outline says 10 of the 180 are unscored pretest questions, so 170 count. Two question types are marked new: “Case or Scenario (NEW)”, where you read a detailed situation, sometimes with charts, and answer a series of questions about it, and “Graphic-Based Questions (NEW)”, where you interpret charts, graphs, diagrams or images. Both are available on every test format. Matching, point and click and pull-down list questions are computer-based testing only. You can take the exam up to three times within your one-year eligibility period.

AI appears once in the outline

The words “artificial intelligence (AI)” appear once in the outline, in the introduction, where PMI says trends “such as artificial intelligence (AI), and sustainability” were “used as inputs into the JTA”, its job task analysis. There is no AI domain, task or enabler. Sustainability, by contrast, shows up inside several enablers, for example “Manage cost of quality (CoQ) and sustainability” and compliance requirements that include sustainability. Pocket Prep’s education director reached the same conclusion in a blog post on 13 August 2026, writing that the phrase “appears exactly once in the entire document.” We checked the outline itself and counted the same.

That matters when you shop. An “AI” label on a prep tool tells you how the tool works, not that it covers a new AI section, because there is none. Study the Business Environment domain first.

Two PMI rules worth knowing before you buy

First, the 35 hours of training you need to apply. From 1 December 2026, PMI says live classes, in person or online, count only if they come from a PMI Authorized Training Partner, a China Registered Education Provider or an eligible accredited higher education program. Self-paced courses from any provider still count if they include an end-of-course assessment, and the outline says “books and practice exams alone will NOT be accepted”. Several tools in this guide are question banks that do not give you the 35 hours.

Second, guarantees. The outline says “PMI encourages everyone to exercise caution when engaging with organizations that make misleading claims or guarantee exam success.” It also says the exam “is not written according to any single text”, so a course that sells itself on one edition of the PMBOK Guide is not the same as one aligned to the outline.

What PMI sells itself

PMI also sells its own exam prep. PMI Study Hall Essentials cost $59 and Study Hall Plus $79, each for three months, and both are marked “Auto-renews quarterly”. Essentials includes two 180-question practice exams, ten mini exams and 330 extra practice questions, plus case studies and flashcards; Plus adds a third practice exam, more mini exams and quizzes. PMI says plans “cannot be upgraded after purchase”. The PMP Practice Exam cost $99 for one full 180-question exam with unlimited retakes, and the PMP Exam Prep Course, which covers the 35 training hours, cost $699 for members and $799 at full price. We found no AI feature described in Study Hall. PMI’s AI product is Infinity, covered below.

Faz says: If you buy Study Hall, put a reminder in your calendar for the end of month three. It renews every quarter, and a study tool you stopped opening after the exam is an easy charge to miss.

Prices read on 28 October 2026 before any promo codes. Several vendors showed these prices against a higher crossed-out figure.

How we chose and ordered these

Each tool had to describe a real AI feature for PMP prep in its own words, show a price, and say it covers the July 2026 outline. We ordered them by how much of your preparation the tool can carry on its own, how clearly the vendor explains what its AI does, whether it gives you the 35 training hours, and how honest the guarantee is. Prep companies with no AI claim, apps that still describe the old exam, and a brand that is closing are listed further down with the reason they were left out.

1. Brain Sensei: a voice AI instructor inside a full course

Brain Sensei has built its PMP course around a talking AI teacher. The AI-Powered PMP Exam Prep Course page says “Your AI instructor speaks in a natural, conversational voice” and that you can “interrupt whenever you need help” to ask for an example, another explanation or a sample exam question. Brain Sensei says the AI is “grounded in Brain Sensei course material” and that it “stays grounded in the current course lesson” rather than wandering off like a general chatbot. The course has 26 AI-guided modules, which matches the 26 tasks in the new outline, and the page says it is “Updated for the New PMP Exam Launched on July 9, 2026”.

Brain Sensei AI-Powered PMP Exam Prep Course and Exam Simulator page with the line Listen, Interrupt, Ask, Understand, Resume and a Lifetime Access card showing 499 dollars crossed out and 299 dollars as a limited time offer
Brain Sensei’s AI-Powered PMP page on 28 October 2026. The FAQ on the same page gives a different price, as the section explains.

The practice side is kept apart on purpose. The course includes one year of a simulator with more than 1,600 questions that builds a new exam for each attempt, and the FAQ says “The simulator is intentionally independent of the AI instructor”. The course includes the 35 contact hours PMI requires, so of the tools in this list it is the one that covers your application hours and your practice in one purchase.

Check three details before you buy. The price: the offer card showed $299 against a crossed-out $499 as a one-time payment, while the FAQ on the same page said “The regular price is $699.99. For a limited time, the course is available for $499.99.” Confirm the price at checkout. The AI time: the purchase includes “300 conversational AI minutes”, and more are sold separately; after that you can keep using the course without the voice AI. And “lifetime” access, which the footnote says “applies to the purchased course while it is offered and supported by Brain Sensei”.

The headline “99.6% first-time pass rate” belongs to a different product. The FAQ says the AI course material “is based on Brain Sensei’s current PMP Exam Prep Course, which has a 99.6% first-time pass rate.” The figure is Brain Sensei’s own, and the page does not say how it is measured. The pass guarantee terms say that if you complete the course and fail within one calendar year of buying, you get “an additional 90 days of access”, then another 90 days after a second fail, and “If you fail the exam a third time, Brain Sensei will refund your initial purchase amount”. The second and third attempts must fall within six months of the first fail. The 30-day refund applies “if no more than one practice exam has been started.” There is a 7-day free trial with no card.

Choose it if you learn by listening and asking, and you want the 35 hours and a simulator in one place. Skip it if you only need practice questions, or you would rather type to a tutor than talk to one.

2. Pocket Prep PMP: an AI tutor on a large question bank

Pocket Prep is a question bank first. Its PMP page says “Our PMP content is updated for the July 9, 2026 Examination Content Outline” and lists 2,570 questions, split 766 People, 1,120 Process and 684 Business Environment; the iPhone listing says 2,450 questions and two mock exams. Its newer AI feature is Tutor, which its help centre describes as “An AI-powered chatbot that helps you learn”. The approach is deliberate: “Tutor won’t just hand you the answer when you’re stuck.” Instead it prompts you to reason it through, and it can point you to textbook references. Tutor works in web and mobile apps “inside every quiz mode except Mock Exams and Assignments”, so your mock exams stay closer to real exam conditions. The help article does not say which plans include it, so check during the free questions.

Pocket Prep’s PMP page on 28 October 2026. The review and rating figures are Pocket Prep’s own.

On 28 October 2026 Premium cost $20.99 billed monthly, $49.99 every three months or $124.99 a year, the same prices as the in-app subscriptions on iPhone. You can try 80 questions free. The iPhone app had 4.7 stars from 3,001 ratings and was updated on 20 October 2026; on Android the PMP content sits inside the Pocket Prep Professional app, which had 4.6 stars from 1.81K reviews and was updated on 27 October 2026. Pocket Prep says it is not affiliated with or endorsed by PMI.

The pass guarantee is extra time, not money: “Pass your upcoming exam with Pocket Prep or we will provide you with three additional months of access to Premium Prep for free.” Pocket Prep also says its app “isn’t intended to be your only source of study material”, and it does not give you the 35 training hours. One caution: its PMP page says the new outline “places greater emphasis on artificial intelligence”, while its own blog post says AI appears once in the document. The blog matches the outline.

Choose it if you want a phone-friendly question bank with an AI tutor that makes you think. Skip it if you still need your 35 training hours.

3. PM Mastery: an AI coach and AI-drafted questions, clearly disclosed

PM Mastery is a new, single-founder simulator built for the 2026 exam. It lists “4,000+ questions (including 200 in 40 case studies)”, full 180-question mock exams and “an AI coach that explains every answer”. The coach is “powered by Claude”, Anthropic’s model, and on any question you can ask why the other options are wrong, get a simpler explanation or a memory trick. Free users get three AI Coach interactions a day and paid users 25.

PM Mastery’s homepage on 28 October 2026.

PM Mastery is open about where its questions come from: “Questions are drafted with AI, then checked against PMBOK 8 and the 2026 PMP Exam Content Outline, run through automated quality checks, and audited by me, George (Ben) Schenck Jr.” That makes them a company’s practice items, not PMI’s, so pair them with at least one official PMI practice exam. The 40 case studies are useful practice for the new case question type.

The Exam Prep Pass cost $99 once for 90 days, and PM Mastery says it “Never renews.” Premium cost $49 a month or $399 for lifetime access, with a 7-day money-back guarantee on the first purchase and 100 free questions without a card. The pass guarantee applies to the Pass: complete at least three full mock exams, and if you fail, email your result within 30 days and your Pass is extended free for 90 days. In PM Mastery’s words, “It’s an extension, not a refund.” The company is PM Mastery Solutions, LLC of New Orleans, founded in 2026 and still in early access, and it says it does not include the 35 contact hours.

Choose it if you want a large bank of 2026-format questions and an AI coach on every one, without a subscription. Skip it if you want a long track record or human-written questions only.

Saru says: A question written by AI is a guess at the PMP, even when a human checks it. Use AI-made questions for extra reps, and save at least one full timed run for PMI’s own practice exam.

4. PMI Infinity: PMI’s own AI, built for project work

PMI’s AI product is PMI Infinity, which it calls “the AI project coach that evaluates risks, course-corrects and suggests next steps”. PMI says Infinity combines its project management knowledge “with leading AI models”, is “Grounded in the PMBOK Guide, PMI standards and knowledge”, and shows “Sources you can verify”. It runs on the web and in the PMI Official mobile app. One of its sample uses is to “prepare for certifications”, but Infinity is a general project assistant, not a PMP question bank or a simulator.

PMI Infinity page on pmi.org headline PMI Infinity, Project intelligence, on your side, under the Project Management Institute navigation bar
PMI Infinity on pmi.org, 28 October 2026.

Infinity is “Free to Members”. The membership page offers a 30-day trial with “No credit card required. No automatic renewal.”, while paid membership is “12 months of access, billed annually thereafter”. Membership also gives a discount of up to 30% on certification and exam prep, according to PMI, and free access to the PMBOK Guide. If you plan to join PMI for the lower exam fee anyway, Infinity comes with it.

Choose it if you are joining PMI and want an AI to explain concepts in PMI’s own terms. Skip it if you want practice questions; buy Study Hall or one of the tools above for that.

5. Aspirants.ai: AI-generated PMP questions on demand

Aspirants.ai leans on AI more than the others here. Instead of a fixed question bank, it generates “fresh situational practice questions across People, Process and Business Environment”, which it says are “Weighted to the July 2026 exam content outline, not the retired one” with “Roughly 40% predictive and 60% agile or hybrid”. Every answer choice is explained, and you can ask follow-up questions. You can generate a free quiz on the page before paying.

Aspirants.ai’s PMP page on 28 October 2026.

On its pricing page, Starter cost $49 a month or $24 a month billed yearly ($288), Pro $99 a month or $49 a month billed yearly, and Premium $199 a month or $99 billed yearly for every exam it covers. Full and sectional practice tests and the study plan are on Pro and Premium. Aspirants.ai covers 40 US exams plus nine Indian ones, so PMP is one of many, and it says “we do not sell a video curriculum or official practice tests.”

Read the refund policy before you pay. It says “What you pay Aspirants.ai is not handed back, apart from three specific cases”, which are being billed twice, card misuse you can show, and a confirmed outage it could not fix. Changing your mind, rescheduling your exam or failing it do not qualify, and plans renew until you cancel, with leftover days never pro-rated.

Choose it if you have finished a question bank and want an endless supply of new practice. Skip it if you want refund flexibility or questions written by PMP holders.

What we left out, and why

The PM PrepCast. It is closing on 4 December 2026, so it is not in the lineup. The details are in the notice near the top of this page.

Apps that still describe the old exam. “PMP Exam Prep 2026: Practice” by EASY PASS COMPANY LIMITED, which other App Store regions title “PMP Exam Prep 2026: AI Tutor”, calls itself “the #1 AI-powered practice test app” with an AI mentor called Mentora, and says its questions are “Updated for 2026 exam content outline (ECO)”. The same description lists “People Domain: 42%”, “Process Domain: 50%” and “Business Environment: 8%”, the old weights. It had 4.9 stars from 468 ratings and was updated on 23 October 2026. “PMP Exam Prep Practice | 2026” by EZ Test Prep says “New Content for July 2026 PMP Exam!”, yet its description lists knowledge areas such as Integration and Scope Management and “Professional and Social Responsibility”, an older structure. Neither is wrong to exist, but neither describes the current outline.

No AI claim. TIA Education, Andrew Ramdayal’s company, sells low-cost PMP courses and a 2,000-question simulator, including a course, ebook and simulator bundle at $79.99 for six months, but makes no AI claim for PMP prep; its money-back guarantee requires you to score at least 80% on each required mock exam. Prepia’s PMP app offers personalised plans but makes no AI claim. Simplilearn mentions AI as a course topic rather than as a study tool, and showed us rupee prices; PMTraining’s homepage made no AI claim. We could not reach Talent Triangle’s site. Older apps with no update in more than a year were left out.

How to choose an AI PMP exam prep tool

Sort out your 35 hours first

You cannot apply without 35 training hours, and the tools here split on that. Brain Sensei’s AI course and PMI’s own course include them; Pocket Prep, PM Mastery, PMI Infinity and Aspirants.ai do not. If you plan a live class, remember PMI’s rule that from 1 December 2026 live training must come from an Authorized Training Partner or another listed provider.

Decide what you want the AI to do

The five tools use AI for three different jobs. If you want to be taught, Brain Sensei’s voice instructor runs the lessons. If you want help after you miss a question, Pocket Prep’s Tutor and PM Mastery’s AI coach explain the reasoning, and Pocket Prep’s tries to lead you there yourself. If you want more questions, Aspirants.ai generates them and PM Mastery drafts its bank with AI. PMI Infinity explains project concepts in PMI’s terms but does not quiz you.

Check the content matches the July 2026 outline

Look for People 33%, Process 41% and Business Environment 26%, case or scenario questions, and graphic-based questions. Treat a tool that still quotes 42%, 50% and 8%, or that is organised around old knowledge areas, as out of date whatever its name says. Spend more time on Business Environment, which carries 26% of the questions.

Read the guarantee for what it pays

Most PMP guarantees here give you more time, not money. Pocket Prep adds three months, PM Mastery extends its Pass by 90 days, and Brain Sensei extends access twice before refunding after a third fail. Every one requires you to finish the work first. PMI itself warns about organisations that “guarantee exam success”, so weigh the content, not the promise.

Watch the renewal terms

PMI Study Hall renews every quarter and Aspirants.ai renews until you cancel, while PM Mastery’s $99 Pass and Brain Sensei’s course are single payments. Subscriptions bought inside a phone app are billed through your app store account, so cancel them there. Note the renewal date the day you buy.

Use general chatbots carefully

A general AI chatbot can explain earned value or a servant leadership scenario, but it does not know how PMI writes its questions and can be confidently wrong. Check any explanation against the outline and a PMI practice exam. If you are also preparing for interviews after you pass, our guide to AI interview tools compares the practice options.
