The threshold is revenue, not usage
This is the whole model, and it is unusual enough to be worth stating clearly.
Twinmotion does not charge by feature, project count, render volume or export quality. It charges based on how much money you make. Everything in the product is available on the free licence.
If your gross annual revenue over the past twelve months is under $1 million USD, Twinmotion is free, and that free version includes all upgrades, documentation and learning materials, and community forums.
If you are over that line, you buy seats at $445 per seat per year, which includes a year of upgrades and adds Twinmotion Cloud.
This is the same shape Epic Games uses for Unreal Engine, which is not a coincidence: Twinmotion is an Epic product.
What that means in practice
The threshold catches far fewer people than architects tend to assume.

A small architectural practice can run Twinmotion, in full, for nothing. No watermark, no project cap, no reduced render quality, no feature gate.
The revenue test is on the company, not the seat. A single visualiser inside a large firm does not get the free licence because their own billings are small. What counts is the organisation’s gross revenue.
Twinmotion Cloud is the other trigger. Even under $1 million, if you need Cloud you are into paid seats.
Where the dollar figure comes from
Worth being explicit about this, because it is a page where we nearly could not publish a number at all.
Twinmotion’s pricing widget geo-serves currency. Loaded from our connection it showed ₹30,674.10 per seat per year, with no currency switcher offered.
The $445 USD figure comes from Twinmotion’s own FAQ text on the same page, which states plainly: “For individuals and companies who generate over $1 million annually, you can purchase Twinmotion seats for $445.” That sentence is static prose rather than a localised price widget, so it is not affected by where you are reading from.
We are quoting Twinmotion’s own dollar figure, not converting their rupee one. If you are buying from outside the US, the price you are charged will be the localised figure, not $445 converted at today’s rate.
What the price does not tell you
How the revenue test is verified. The licence says under $1 million in the past 12 months, and nothing on the page describes how that is checked or self-certified.
What happens when you cross the line mid-year. If your revenue passes $1 million during a project, nothing states whether you owe seats immediately, at renewal, or from the next financial year.
Whether the free tier can be used commercially. It reads as yes, since the whole distinction is revenue-based rather than commercial-versus-personal, but it is worth confirming for anything contractual.
What over 25 seats costs. Twinmotion asks you to contact them above 25 seats, for custom licensing terms, or for Epic Pro Support. No figure is published for any of those.
Seats are bought through the Developer Portal, not through the pricing page, which is a small friction worth knowing about before you plan a purchase.
Who this is for
Almost every freelancer and small studio, for free. If you are under $1 million in revenue, there is no decision to make: the paid tier adds Cloud and nothing else you do not already have.
Firms over $1 million are buying at $445 per seat per year, which is modest against the architectural visualisation category and is the point of the model.
Anyone needing Twinmotion Cloud is paying regardless of revenue.
Students and educational institutions are free, stated separately from the revenue test.
How revenue gating compares to seat pricing
Twinmotion is unusual in this category, and the comparison is the clearest way to see why.
Most architectural visualisation tools price per seat from the first seat. You pay whether you are a student, a freelancer or a hundred person firm, and the only variable is how many people need access. Twinmotion inverts that: the number of seats is irrelevant below the threshold, and the only question is what the business turns over.
The practical effect is that Twinmotion is free for most of the people who would find a per seat licence hardest to justify, and charges the firms best able to absorb it. For a two person studio evaluating tools, that is not a small difference, it is the whole decision.
It also means the usual comparison question changes shape. Instead of asking which tool costs less per seat, the question becomes whether you are over $1 million in revenue. Under it, Twinmotion has no price to compare.

We read Twinmotion’s licensing page on 30 August 2026, reached by following the “Learn about licensing” link from twinmotion.com rather than guessing a URL. Note that twinmotion.com/pricing returns a 404: the page is at /license.
The pricing widget served us Indian rupees with no way to switch. The $445 figure is quoted from Twinmotion’s own FAQ prose on that page, and we have not converted any rupee figure into dollars.
